A parish society based at its village centre adjoining Douglas, the growing capital of the Island, and sharing the benefits of the resort's development throughout the nineteenth century.
In newspaper speculation they were commonly known as the richest of the joint mutuality clubs. On their 1836 anniversary, with a membership of 130 'healthy men between the ages of 18 and 40' they celebrated with 'an excellent dinner paid for out of the stock which at present amounts to £1,424'. In 1837 their funds were £1,447, from which £6 was sent for the welfare of distressed Highlanders, and by June 1838, though their membership was not considered large, they held £1,500 in funds to be lent out as speculative capital. They were listed as operative in the Medical Aid and Poor Relief Commission Report of 1879 and the Club records up to 1885 survive.
