Re: Moses Canning

The surname Strappini is not easy to follow, it is transposed in so many ways.

For example, at 52 Circular Road Douglas IoM the 1881 census has:-

Peter Shappini 57 Barrister at Law London
Elizabeth 46 wife Andreas IoM

The name can be seen in freebmd with Mary Emma1847 and Walter Diver 1849 both christened Feb.28 1851 according to IGI. Their father is given as Peter Alexander Michael Strappini and mother as Eliza.

Since Peter married Elizabeth Radcliffe in London 1871 she would be to young to be the mother so I presumed another marriage.

A Walter Diver appears in Guernsey in 1901 as a catholic priest but freebmd shows a death 1927 back in London.

Peter Alexander was buried in Braddan cemetery Feb.10 1897 and Elizabeth Mch 1 1906 see www.iomfhs.im and follow the research section.

By 1901 a daughter Constance appears with Elizabeth in Station Road Michael Isle of Man.

Elizabeth Strappini widow 66 living on own means Andreas
Constance Daughter 18 Pupil Teacher Douglas
