Greg, I agree with you that a lot of the problems on the IOMFHS board could be overcome, but whether anyone would be permitted to do so is another matter. Why not see whether you can persuade them to make the changes you suggest on their own website before risking any upheaval to the Manx Genealogy board?

I don't agree that something paid-for is necessarily better, or safer. Or less prone to neglect. The IOMFHS paid a lot of money for the clunky website, and the free Manx Genealogy board works very well where it is, and has done for years. We know they have backup systems in place, but does the IOMFHS website?
