Re: Not Again
In Response To: Re: Not Again ()

What superb, fantastic postings and I'm still excited as I write this.
This is what its all about, help support and encouragement.

As a relative youngster, I was unaware of certain difficulties regards background, clutter, icons, computer speed etc, due to being used to a certain type of environment and upbringing and only by exploring these issues, can I understand what people may or are going through.
I seem to apologize a lot these days, but my intentions are true to my heart and although I might come across as a bumbling over zealous egocentric maniac, (add your own wording................) my passion for wanting to learn more never seems satisfied. I realise however, that I can be very stubborn and lacking experience in this field, but I do have resilience and an abundance of enthusiasm waiting to help anyone in whatever capacity I can.
I love doing this 'stuff' and admire and respect the people who continuously add to the rich content of information and I feel a little left out for not knowing Brian, who was quite inspirational to me, as the recording of information was/is very similar to my own.
There's so much to learn and I look towards peoples experienced knowledge of times past with great zeal, even surnames that doesn't connect to my own as I often wonder as to how the information was found out in the first place.
I just want to learn more, know more, do more and help more and over time hope to become an experienced hand like many others I see on here.
With reference the FHS Forum, I personally don't like it as it's too over the top for me, which is unusual for me to say, as I like technology and although it has many different attributes and functions amongst the many systems it runs, this forum is (and I agree - now you'll notice) by far the easiest to to do. I have compared the two forums and disregarding the amount of input and help required (although extremely important), the fact is, that the new forum is too complicated for someone who just wants to write a message and await for an answer. I'll probably get another slap on the wrist for saying so, but I can live with that and any person reading this will see that I speak what I see.

I certainly agree with Greg that the DRP or Disaster Recovery Plan is a necessity in every operation and I know that certain companies pay up to 5% of their IT budget towards protection and that they have back up facilities on a daily basis by disc or tape, thereby protecting their most valuable assets, in our case, the archive. I sincerely hope that we have that protection on here, as the loss would be catastrophic and the increasing lists of viruses, Trojans, spammers, robots, hackers, crackers and many more to name a few, so backup is extremely important

Anyway, I have to go Carol Singing tonight and if by chance you hear the dulcet tones of a cat in distress, don't worry, it's only me.
Bye for now, Paul
