Edward GELLING b abt 1801 Douglas, grocer, was married to Mary BROWN in 1835. They had 5 known children - Daniel Edward, Isabella, Elizabeth, George Brown and Matthew Harrison.

Mary Gelling and 4 of their children are entered on the Kirkcudbright, Scotland 1841 census, but no Edward.

Edward Gelling and 4 of his children are entered on the 1851 IOM census, along with wife "Eleanor C" (not Mary). Edward died in December of 1856.

The 1861 IOM census shows Eleanor Gelling as "Head", "Widow", and 2 of the children.

The 1881, 1891 and 1901 include Eleanor A Gelling and daughter Elizabeth.

My questions are:
1. When did Mary Gelling (Brown) die?
2. Where was Edward Gelling in 1841?
3. When did Edward marry Eleanor?

I've checked Ancestry.com, Brian's site and the IGI, to no avail. Ancestry has several possiblities, but nothing I can be sure of, as does Brian's site.

I'm hoping there might be an MI or death/burial register entry somewhere for Edward and Mary and Eleanor. Any help most appreciated. Thank you.
