my g.g/mother Elizabeth Brew was born on the island.moved to liverpool, dont know when,but married1876. on the 1861 census there is only one shoemaker of the name, Robert Brew aged 22. from Maughold. Could have been others of different name. Do you know if he was born on the island (birth cert ? )
