Re: Cavendish
In Response To: Cavendish ()

The name Cavendish in the Isle of Man was an anglicised form of the Manx Gaelic name Corjeag. My great-great grandfather John Corjeag of Ballalonna, Kirk Michael was the Local Preacher. There was a branch in Ballaugh stemming from Thomas Corjeag of Michael. Thomas was known as Cavendish in Ballaugh. He was baptised 31 July 1785 in Kk Michael, son of Richard Corjeag and Jane Dorey. Thomas married Margaret Killey and had a son John baptised Ballaugh 23 May 1813.
