Re: Cavendish
In Response To: Re: Cavendish ()

I'm just getting started, but I know for sure that a William E. Chippy married a Frances E. Cavendish on September 23, 1873 in Franklin County, Ohio. He was at least 21 and she was at least 18. Whether this William E. Chippy is the same as the father of my great great grandmother, Anna Chippy, I am unable to say for sure. Anna Chippy was born in Ohio on June 14, 1874 (nearly 9 months after William and Frances married), so it seems very likely that Frances was her mother. I have not seen Anna's birth certificate, but her great granddaughter stated in another post online that Anna's mother is not listed on the birth certificate. I think it's possible that Frances died in childbirth. I don't know when Frances died, but William E. Chippy married a Lucinda Ealy in 1878, so I suspect Frances died before then! Also, Anna's great granddaughter posted on a message board that her aunt told her one of the great grandmothers was born on the Isle of Man, which is why I do believe Frances Cavendish married my great great great grandfather William (and not some other William Chippy). I don't know whether William and Frances had any other children. William and Lucinda had two daughters. Anna Chippy married John F Thompson (Jr.) and had many children. My great grandfather Irving Sylvester Thompson married Monalita Diaz. I have more information on Anna, John, Irving, and Monalita (birth, death, etc.) if you are interested (as well as on many of their descendants in closer generations). Irving drowned at age 23 trying to save another man in the ocean. His wife Monalita had two daughters, it was during the Depression, and she was unable to support them both, so my grandmother, Diane, was adopted by the neighbors. Just this past year we obtained information about Diane's birth parents and are just beginning to research this family line. I'm looking forward to finding out more about the Cavendish family!
