Re: Thomas Lennox Seaton

Hi Sue

I’d assumed that Jesse in the IGI baptism was a mistranscription of Jessie, in the same way that Alice Kendale was a mistranscription if Alice Kendall. The BMD has a Jessie Seaton birth registered Jun Q 1873 in Whitehaven, but no Jesse Seaton.

So we’re back to square one in the census search for the parents of Thomas Lennox Seaton. If TLS was born in the early to mid 1850s, he’d have been 25 years older than his wife who was born in 1879. Do Australian marriage certificates give age at marriage ?

From the details you’ve given of the entry from the death index, do you think that Duglass was TLS’s mother’s maiden name or a middle name ? I’m not familiar with the format of Australian indices.

1933/ C2462/ Thomas Lennox/ Seaton/ Duncan Albert/ Margaret Duglass.
