I’ve tried all the usual methods in trying to find a baptism for Thomas Lennox Seaton, but without success.
I can’t find any likely candidates living with a father named Duncan in 1851, 1861 or 1871. It would help to know Thomas’s approx. year of birth but there seems to be a big question mark over this.
There are people who contribute to this forum who have particular expertise in searching specific types of record eg:
Sue and David ----- Australian records and passenger lists.
Col ------- military records.
I’ve pasted in below some of the information thrown up by a Google search, including your message from yesterday, in order to have everything together in one block. Perhaps someone will find a crucial clue in this.

Paddy Byrne notes:
I am particularly interested in Maureen's Grandad Thomas Lennox Seaton. He appears to be a ghost.

I have his Medals & Ribbons from his various exploits and a fair bit of his history here in Cairns QLD. He has even called me from the grave, helping us find his resting place where the Cemetery curator couldn't find the grave.

I have contacted Maureen's Cousin Hazel who actually met the old fella before he died in 1933 and she has been a great help but cannot give me any info about when he migrated to Aussie & the QLD Library have no records either.

Hi Guys I came across this site when looking for info regarding Thomas Lennox Seaton. He was my wife's Grandfather.

I have come to a halt finding any info on him other than what HE HAS quoted in the newspapers and what my in-laws & their rellys have been able to supply. He has only 3 living rellys left & only one of them (87) can actually remember him as a child.

I have a painting of him in full uniform dating in the early 1920's and a couple of battered photos. I have his medals (unnamed & unnumbered) but the ribbons are gone & I also have the gold buttons from his dress uniform. He was supposedly a boy when he joined the RN (around 1866-8) rising to the CPO position on the HMS Inflexible. I cannot find any reference to him migrating to Australia in the late 1890's either assisted passage or otherwise.

Would anyone have any info advising how to get a crew list for the HMS Inflexible to see if he really was who he purported to be ?

thanks in advance, Paddy B
