Re: Mylrea site
In Response To: Re: Mylrea site ()

Hi Kay - Frances is quite right about Thomas not being Philip's son although they were related, both descended from the Ballacooiley Mylreas. But that's another story. Now about your Ann. I can only find one couple John & Ann Kelly in Castletown in the 1851 census. They have a son John who's the right age BUT they also have a daughter Sophia aged 9. Is this be the correct couple? If it is, then the Sophia suggests MAYBE Ann was actually Mary Ann, daughter of Philip Mylrea & Jane Moore and born 1821 in Braddan. This was the only Mylrea family I've ever found in that era with a Sophia (in fact they had two but both died) - no LDS records but burials in IOMFHS lists. Also, cross Basil & Jane off your hit list - they did not have an Ann, but their daughter Susannah married a Thomas Kelly - considerably younger than your Ann though. Let me know whether any of this rings bells. I"ll keep exploring the question. D
