Re: new IGI
In Response To: Re: Daniel & Jane Quayle ()

I put your bapt date of 1819 with name Daniel Quayle in this version of the IGI: www.familysearch.org/ which came up with the entry I posted. This is the first source on opening the IGI and appears to cover all countries, and is a mixture of parish records and censuses etc., as well as people's trees.

There seem to be several versions of the new IGI which have IOM records, and I used to try being more specific by "Browse by location" and searching the "IOM Births and Baptisms 1821-1911", for example. But this seems to have a large number of missing entries, as does "Isle of Man Parish Registers, 1598-1950".
(Although the latter does have the same entry for "Daniel Quayle Mcknight" as the one I posted.)

They say the "old" IGI is still there at: www.familysearch.org/search/collection/igi but it doesn't look much like the old one to me. I tried Daniel Quayle, b.IOM between 1819-1823 and it came up with no specific match - or any bapt at all (that I saw when wading through several pages) - but dozens of entries showing spouse and child.
