Re: Edward CORKILL
In Response To: Edward CORKILL ()

In the 1861 census when Robert Corkill (aged 40) & Mary Clague (aged 43) were with Robert's parents John (aged 64 farmer) & Elinor (aged 67) the farm was Booilevelt, Maughold, according to Tom Corteen (mistranscribed by Findmypast, previous message).

Their children's bapts in the Maughold register:
Anne John Corkhill/ Eleanor Cowin Parish Church 8 Sep 1816
*Robert John Corkill/ Elinor Cown Parish Church 4 Nov 1821*
Elinor John Corkill/ Elinor Cown Parish Church 2 May 1824
John John Corkill/ Elinor Cown Parish Church 22 Oct 1826
Thomas John Corkill/ Elinor Cown Parish Church 14 Jun 1829, Twin of William
William John Corkill/ Elinor Cown Parish Church 14 Jun 1829, Twin of Thomas
James John Corkill/ Elinor Cown Parish Church 12 Feb 1832
Daniel John Corkill/ Elinor Cown Parish Church 10 May 1834

John Corkhill & Elinor Cowin married in Maughold on 4 Nov 1815.

I wouldn't worry about the spelling of Corkill/Corkhill, because the name
was often spelt either way.

Father Robert Corkill was a Miner & Rural Constable in 1871, and a farmer in 1881:
