Re: Applying for death certificates

Hello Averil,

thanks for bringing to my notice Nellie Gorry and her one year old son Harold.
As soon as I saw that they were born in Lonan I suspected that they were not of my Gorrys in the Peel area but I was still interested in checking them out. They were extraordinarily difficult to track down, mainly because Nellie's full maiden name was 'Eleanor Jane Hampton', and Harold's forenames were 'William Harold'. Nellie's husband was John Henry Gorry, also of Lonan. I have no record of much fraternisation between the Lonaners and the Peelers - probably because of a combination of mutual remoteness and the fact that the Lonan Gorrys were in farming whilst the Peel Gorrys were mostly fisherfolk; I've found no hint of anything linking the two.

I have two trees, one contains my family data, and the other contains, in a sort of hodge-podge, Gorrys I've investigated but for whom I cannot find a family link. Nellie, Harold and family now reside in this latter 'Unattached' tree .

Thanks again and regards

Alan
