In the meantime I spent the day pursuing this and with the help of someone tracing the Byers line in Texas tracked Francis & Margaret Gellings daughter Emaline through from the death of her father in 1898 to her death in 1965 in Texas. In the process, I think I also have a link between Margaret and her sister Olive Qualtrough/Hudgeon who travelled to Wisconsin as a nurse to John Cowley. Seems Emaline (1900 census) first stayed with John Cowley after her Francis' death.
