Re: KERMODE in Lonan

Thanks for your further information.
First, you are correct; Sarah Cowin was Joseph Kermode's sister not his daughter; I got the two mixed up. During his trip back to IOM, Joseph stayed with Sarah but upon returning to Canada he stayed with his daughter Helen (in Winnipeg).

I have not yet obtained a copy of Joseph's 1933 death cert, but will pursue.

I think I have confirmed the "proper" Sarah Jane Kermode from the various info I now have: census records, her marriage to Joseph Cowin (20th May 1865; LDS film 0106728) and Eleanor Kermode's will (transcribed and soon to be posted).

Great explanation of the wills; I do have a copy of Margaret Killip's will and now that for Daniel and Eleanor. But it was some time since I reviewed Margaret's and didn't make the connection with Williams acknowledgement of having received proceeds from Margaret's estate. I have that at least two children from Margaret's marriage with Daniel survived; William and Ann. Ann married Joseph Raisbeck in 1846 (LDS 016728) at about age 21 and they immigrated to Australia sometime around 1850. No evidence that she ever received her inheritance.

I have William marrying Anne Quine in 1855 (LDS 016728), and he dying in 1910. I have on order the Will films for a William Kermode (d. 1910) and on of his daughter's Sophia Thirza Kermode (d. 1916) which if correct will provide further information.
