Re: Sarah Jane Kermode
In Response To: Sarah Jane Kermode ()

Thanks for this Averil
What got me going on this was entries in the 1851 IOM (Lonan) for a Sarah dau of Daniel and Eleanor Kermode and the other a Sarah J dau of John and Ellinor Kermode. I know my gg Joseph Kermode returned to the IOM from Canada in 1921 and stayed with his daughter Sarah Cowin, but needed to confirm which of the two 1851 Sarah Kermodes married Joseph Cowin. With the info provided by Carol re: the parents in the Kermode-Cowin marriage 20 May1865, I believe the correct parents of Sarah were Daniel and Eleanor Kermode.

I also have an IGI showing a June 27, 1841 Christening for a Sarah Ellanor Kermode with parents Daniel and Elleanor, which would appear to be an earlier sister of the Sarah from the 1865 marriage, but doesn't show in my tree so wonder if she died as an infant.

Like Carol, my information shows Elleanor, 2nd wife of Daniel Kermode also being a Kermode at the time of their marriage (6 January 1836, within two months of the death of his first wife Margaret Killip). She was also 20 years younger than Daniel, placing her about age 34 at the time of marriage to Danel. Is there any way of determining whether she was a spinster or (Kermode) widow?

Thanks again to you all. The information you provided has been invaluable..
