Re: Dumbell family
In Response To: Re: Dumbell family ()

Thomas Leece, husband of Janet Davidson was baptised in K. German 25 Feb 1810. The son of John Leece & his 2nd wife Elizabeth Quay. This branch of the family and mine separated some 90 years ealier ; however, I was able to help a lady living in New Zealand to establish that she was directly descended from Thomas & Janets' son - James. He arrived in N.Z. on the Waikato on 11th July 1874.
An extract from the passenger list records James Leece, his wife and 4 children were accompanied by a T.M. Davidson servant. Four Roads, Rushen I.O.M. It would seem the total cost of the voyage was £58 of which James Leece paid £1.
"How finally disposed of - J. Dumbell, New Plymouth." Hoping this information is of some help to you. Harry Leece.
