Re: Ruby Christian birth

Many thanks Sue & Frances . On my next visit to Peel[ I go weekly] I shall look for these houses. Yes I knew Eveline had had a boarding house somewhere. She called herself EV EL LYN not the more usual EVE.

My paternal grandmother & father died when I was very young & so my Mum did well to keep me in touch with a tribe of cousins from Foxdale. Evelyn must have retired to Douglas & lived in the next

street. She rarely spoke about the past except her two husbands , & son Will . She did tell me she had lost a daughter as a teenager--TB no doubt. She had a very affable ,pleasant manner & was good with children.

When invited to tea she asked what I would like to eat & drink --which was marvellous I thought ! I was cheap to feed - NO TEA , water & sultana buns from my favourite bakers with syrup. Mother was cross because

she said it meant I was asking for Coffee rarely bought by my family. I seem to remember hearing of sister Ruby but don't know in what connection.
