Re: William Teare, born 1818 Isle of Man

Thank you for all the information, davidr!
I'm not sure about the Lizzie Lace you mentioned. According to the notes my grandfathers had written, Lizzie Lace never married and immigrated to the US in 1874. However, she may have been a widow by 1874, and that is why she chose to go to America with William Teare (1818) who had come back to the Isle of Man to visit family, and returned to America in 1874. That may be worth looking into. They sailed on Dec 15, 1874. I have not found any ship manifests for that date or for William Teare or Esther Quirk in 1840. Lizzie Lace is on census reports in the US as single. I will look more closely to see if they ever say widowed. John Lace may be worth looking up, he may be the son of the Lace (male 1st name unknown) & Quirk (female 1st name unknown) that we have in our word of mouth records. Do you have any other information about either John Laces? After looking at the message board's other inquiries, I am wondering if the Quirks we are looking for are actually Quarks.

Again, thank you for your help.
Tracy
