Re: A move to the island?
In Response To: Re: A move to the island? ()

I've just read your message, Ewan. The info I'd prepared earlier (below) is safe to post on here because it's from so long ago, but I respect your wish not to put anything more recent on the board.

I'll be happy to look over your information and respond by email.

This is what I did earlier:

I've done a little digging into the early years of William Henry Cox b circa 1840. I'm pretty sure that this is the right one, unless there were two William H Coxes who were jewellers born in Birmingham circa 1840.

His parents were Henry Cox and Esther nee Finney. Esther was born in Irton Wood, Derby, and this is the feature which ties together the 41, 51, 61 and 71 census entries in Birmingham.

These two baptisms of William H Cox's siblings are both extracted from the parish register. They were both performed on the same day, so one was probably a baby and the other was a young child at baptism.

Sarah A Cox age 4 in 1841, and a Sarah A Cox age 9 in 1851 is a bit of a mystery --- either one entry is wrong about the age (maybe 4 should be 4 months ?) or else the first Sarah A died soon after the 1841 census.
