Re: More Skillicorn's
In Response To: Re: More Skillicorn's ()

Thank you for your response Sue.

I wrote to Barnardo's because I was enquiring about Harold who I know went to Canada as a Home Child with them in 1913 but I was hoping to get any further details of him. I received a letter back from Barnardo's about Harold and was given the added information about the two boys named being described as 'cousins of Harold' also being sent by B's to Canada in 1906. I was given the names, dob's, ship, dates of departure and arrival of GW and JE. I hadn't asked for these details but the lady who was very helpful volunteered the information that Harold and the two boys were related.

I have found a William in 1871/1881 in Douglas, who maybe 'my' William - but then again maybe not, this is what I am trying to establish. The parents of this Wm are given as Wm and Ann. As far as Harold is concerned, I know he was put in the DIH in 1909 along with three other siblings, but as far as the 1911 census is concerned details of 'institutions' have not been released due to this census being released two years early. I will have to wait for 2012 before I can 'see' these children in there.
