Thanks Donna. Being born after the census is a good thought. Still struggling with other conflicts, Edward had a sister Lily who married William Parkes. I found an Isabella Louisa who married William Parkes in 1909 so it's probably not the same Isabella who was b. abt 1872. Edward also had a brother Tom who was not listed in 1881. Then I also can't connect the family in 1891 or 1901 - Edward Clague and Anne Quayle have both a Lily an Tom in 1901 but no Edward. Confusing! thanks again for your suggestions.
