Clague/Moore/Quayle

I'd like to see if any of this is possible. I have been searching for Edward Clague b. abt 1880. I know he married Mary Ellen Rome in 1906, listed his birth place as Patrick and his father was listed as Edward. I have not been able to pin him down in the census of 1881, 1891 or 1901.

Is it possible that his parents might have been Edward Clague and Elizabeth Moore who married in 1867? My thought is that Elizabeth died about the time of Edward's birth and that the senior Edward married Anne Quayle shortly thereafter. According to 1901 census records Edward Clague was 10 years older than Anne. It might then make sense that the younger Edward was living with relatives when the 1881 census was taken and be on his own in 1901. Don't have an explanation about 1891.

I'd appreciate any thoughts on the possibility of this idea.
