A social club, but also a club dedicated to working for the good of the town of Douglas. The annual supper and ball took place in the club rooms at the City Temperance Hotel, Douglas.
The President, A.W. Breary, in proposing the toast of the Club noted that the membership had now progressed from 32 to 42 and he hoped that it would become the first club in Douglas. Next year a syllabus should be drawn up for following the affairs of the House of Keys and the Town Commissioners and for debates on public and town affairs. He also hoped for the added social attraction of a billiard table. The event was reported in the Isle of Man Examiner of 26 April 1890.
