In the Mona's Herald of 1 January 1859 the alliance put forward the case that evangelism should be a united Protestant operation. In what was still an uneasy period of sectarian difficulties, it was hoped that members of all the protestant churches would come together in the society in order to withstand the forces of Catholicism, because"an organised army like the Popish one must prevail over a broken and disunited multitude"

I cannot find any specific Manx connection until in Dec 1858 there was a meeting to form the Douglas Protestant Association along the lines of the Evangelical Alliance [Manx Sun 25th Dec 1858] which newspaper would seem to have had some connection with its organisation - in another account there were accusations of it being an Orange Lodge connection.
