Re: Casement family
In Response To: Re: Casement family ()

To Pat and Sue,

I shall consider the suggestion as to claiming to be a long lost grand daughter of Queen Victoria. If successful, am I entitled to a free castle ???

Robert !

Being more serious, yes, you have to check these sites, and my research suggests that William Casement married three times.
a) Jane Knipe, a widow, als Wattleworth
b) Mary Thomason
c) Dorothy Parr, a widow als Humphrey

Marriage 1 x 3 daughters, one died in infancy;
The Peerage.Com/Burkes give the girl's name as Nattleworth, but I checked the marriage register for Malew and it is Wattleworth, so that seems to be a clear error, and they do not mention the brief marriage to Dorothy Parr.

The Peerage gives the descent from Ewan or Hugh (and is Hugh an Anglicised version of the Manx personal name Ewen by the way ?) to the well known Sir Roger Casement executed in 1916, but they do not give any dates of birth for Hugh Casement and Eliz Higginson's children and only list two daughters, Eleanor and Mary. However it would be an incredible coincidence if an Irish born Casement heiress from Ballinderry (as per the IOM records) was not a daughter of this couple who were recorded as living in Ballinderry, which is just east of Crumlin, Co Antrim.

I believe that the track is correct, but want to firm it up as much as I can, and to see what else I can come up with on Wm Casement, born c1690 and Thomas Casement, who was MHK in 1662.

Best wishes

Robert
