Re: Robert Corran
In Response To: Re: Robert Corran ()

Hi
Your husband's family (Corran) is in some way connected to mine (also Corran).
I have been able to compile a family tree of your husband's side but can't yet see how it fits in with my side of the family but I think they are cousins because, going back a few generations, my mother was able to name them as Mattie, Kitty Martin, Lana Roney, Fanny and Johnnie Corran.

My mother was Bessie Corran, born Liverpool 1914, the youngest of 5 daughters of Herbert Corran. His father was Robert (jnr) born 1833 in Douglas. In his youth he was a sailor and sailed out of US ports and fought in the American Civil War.Returned to UK to Liverpool in 1868 and married Jane Kelly.

Does any of this ring a bell with your husband's cousin? Has any older member of the Corran family done any research
into the family tree?

All I have found out about Catherine Cain is that she married Robert Corran (snr) in Liverpool Oct 1827. They had children Robert, George and possibly a daughter. Can't find a burial record for Catherine but don't think it was long after 1841. Hope this helps.
