Re: John KERMEENs Maughold
In Response To: John KERMEEN / Mary CAIN ()

It has been rather a losing battle attempting to sort out from the parish register the numerous John Kermeens born between the late 1700s and early 1800s, especially 1800-1803, and almost all in Maughold.

These are the only John Kermeens who were born around those years and buried in Maughold who had ages and place names given in the register.
Burials:
John KERMEEN 75 (Bane) Dec 15 1847 (Bapt 22 Nov.1772, son of Thomas Kirmeen & Ellinr STOLE?)

John KERMEEN 73 Corony 4 Jan 1854 (probably the son of William Kermeen the heir of the Corony, & Isabel CRAIN. Bapt 16 May 1782 Maughold).
KERMEEN, John 1854 Mau E 3 0106455.

John KERMEEN 61 Ballabarna Feb 19 1864 (John s/o William Kirmeen/Margaret KELLY bapt 15 Aug 1802?).
KERMEEN, John 1864 Mau A 100 0106266

John KERMEEN 75 Glen Shone, Maughold Dec 16 1876 (another one b.c.1801. John s/o Edward Kirmeen/Ann CARROON 10 Oct 1801? Or John s/o John Kirmeen/Isable CALLIN 6 Dec 1801? He is in the 1851 census, same place, aged 50, with wife Ann. John Kermeen & Ann KERMEEN married in Maughold 13 Oct 1827. In 1871 they are at Balagory Beg with John 68 labourer in mines with wife Ann 67 and son Robert 23 shoemaker all b.Maughold. John & Ann had 9 children between 1827 & 1847 all recorded in the Maughold register with mother Ann Kermeen, but in the IGI just as "Ann".)

John KERMEEN 63 Ballagorry, Maughold Mar 11 1877 (bapt 1813 son of William Kermeen & Jane COSTEAN. Unmarried in 1841: census Ballagorry Jane KERMEEN 60 [COSTEAN], John 25, James 15, Margaret GARRETT 6. Assume his sister Mary KERMEEN 55, Ballagorry, buried Apr 30 1867: bapt 28 Oct.1810 Maughold d/o William K & Jane Costean).

John KERMEEN 90 years Maughold 20 Feb 1892 (b.c.1802, no place name - in 1881 was in Port-E-Vullin Cottage, Maughold. Also in Port-E-Vullin in 1851 aged 50 with wife Jane CORKILL, 55, and 3 sons. In Port E Vullan in 1871, widr aged 66, labourer with grandson John Kermeen aged 15 b.Maughold. In 1891 he was a widr., 89, still at Port E Vullan living on his own on parish & private charity. They must have known his age if living on parish relief, so again possibly John s/o Edward Kirmeen/Ann CARROON 10 Oct 1801? Or John s/o John Kirmeen/Isable CALLIN 6 Dec 1801? Or John s/o William Kirmeen/Margaret KELLY Aug 1802?).

John KERMEEN of Cardle Voar was aged 35 (rounded) in 1841 census with wife Isabella [CLEATOR], children aged 15 to 1, including Catherine aged 8. John possibly s/o John Kirmeen/Esther COWLEY bapt 1 May 1803 OR bapt 20 Sept 1807 Maughold s/o Wm K & Margt JOUGHIN? Their daughter Cath of Cardle Voar married 1854 Daniel LOWEY; her father John Kermeen, Weaver.
Her mother Isabella, 58, of Cardle Voar buried Maughold 24 Oct 1857.
In 1861 Cardle, John KERMEEN Head MAR 54 Weaver Maughold. With wife Mary [Ann] CAIN, 30 b.Lezayre, and Mary Ann KERMEEN Daughter 2 (daur of John Kermeen & Mary Ann Caine bapt Dhoon Church 23 Oct 1859). John Kermeen & Mary Cain married 30 Nov.1858 Ramsey.

There was also this Patrick bapt:
John Kermeen bapt 2 Aug.1801 Patrick son of John Kermeen & Cath Cubbon.

And another John b.Maughold c.1801:
1871 census
KERMEEN John 70 Dou 5776 13 145 at 33 Hope St Douglas, mariner, b.Maughold, with wife Margt 57 b.Santon.
