Thanks Frances, I should have realised that - 11 months not years. I suppose I was hoping that the girls grew up and had families and that I had a whole new wing of the family plus a possible mystery as to why we never knew about them but this makes more sense. Sadly, it seems as if this little family all died, with the older daugher dying at 6. Infant mortality and death in childbirth are not new statistics to any of us but it is still strangely upsetting when you see it in your own family - and not so very far away.

Now just got to find out what happened to Amelia Spence born in Liverpool, older sister to my g grandmother Louisa Cregeen Spence - died almost certainly but who knows? And my most immediate family will be sorted!
