Re: Evan and Sarah Wade m. 17 Sept. 1881

Hello Ron,

Mary M has very kindly gone to the MM Library and looked up that marriage for you.

She wrote:
079// St Peters Church Parish of German//September 17- 1881
Evan Wade/ 24/ Bachelor /Mariner/German/ Father Hugh Wade
Farmer.// Sarah Jane Francis/23/ Spinster/ German/ Father
Frank Henry Francis/ Waiter// Married in church of St Peter,
Peel. The Marriage was solemnized between us Evan Wade
Sarah Jane Francis Married by James George Williams /Vicar
In presence of Cesar ??Kermode/ Elizabeth A Stephen/ Eliza J Woods/ Frederick Radcliffe

This is great information for you because the details would have been given by the bride and groom themselves, and are therefore far more reliable than death details given by someone else in a different country than their births.

It confirms Evan's father as Hugh, so that bapt was correct, and it gives Sarah Jane's father's name! So now you can see why she was called by two surnames: Callister/Collister or Francis.
