Re: jane fell
In Response To: Re: jane fell ()

Charles FAYLE married Esther GELLING 15 Oct 1808 Braddan. FAYLE and FELL sound a lot alike.

This Esther Gelling was the daughter of Robert GELLING and Jane KELLY married 22 Sept 1770 Braddan. Esther was bp 28 Mar 1777 at Marown. Robert GELLING was bp 13 May 1744 Braddan, the son of John GELLING and Catharine KILLEY of Ballamillaghyn. There's been a lot of discussion about the Ballamillaghyn Gelling family on this Board.

Charles Fayle is one of the many co-exec's of John Gelling's 1812 will. If you look at his will on the Manx will site, he's in there as "Charles ???" but it is in fact Charles Fayle.

Esther Fayle is in the 1841 census age 65 at Hanover St, Douglas with Catherine Fayle age 25, Ann Fayle 4 and Margaret Fayle 1 month. In 1851 Esther FELL is at 14 Fancy St, Douglas widow 72 house servant, b Marown with a granddaughter Catherine Cottier age 5 scholar born England. Esther FELL was buried at Onchan 10 Jul 1859 age 82 (Manx burial list), but there doesn't appear to be a will. I can't find a Charles Fayle/Fell between 1820 (last child) and 1841 on the burial list, nor is there a will.
