Re: jane fell
In Response To: Re: jane fell ()

Hi Lynne
Try keying in lancashirebmd.org.uk into google, this site doesnt allow full web site addresses, throws them out so cant give you full address and LancashireBMD does cover Liverpool. Thats where I found Janes second marriage. If you order that marriage certificate it will give her Father name for you! As Sue said Charles and Esther seem to be likely candidates as her parents. If they are looks like Jane had a brother called Charles bc 1811 who also ended up in Liverpool. There is a marriage on familysearch.org for a Charles Fell to a Margaret Hard 28/3/1841 at St Nicholas Liverpool and a Jane Fell baptised 15/1/1860 at St Silas Liverpool, parents Charles Fell and Margaret. In 1881 this Jane Fell would appear to be a cook at the home of a David Radcliffe at 26 Huskinson Street Liverpool. Cant be sure Jane born to this same couple (but definitely to a Charles and Margaret Fell) as she does seem to be born a long time after their marriage and Margaret would have had to be younger than Charles....but looks possible. I dont have access to Ancestry to look the families up on other census but FreeBMD gives the death of a Charles Fell West Derby September Qtr 1872 8b 323 aged 62 so age fits. Theres also a death of a Margaret Fell March Qtr 1872 West Derby aged 52 so means she was born c1820 and could have been Jane Fells (b1860) Mother. Perhaps a search for the family 1871 Census will give his birthplace as Isle of Man.
But, as I said, if you apply for Janes second marriage certificate it will give her Fathers name and occupation for you to get further back on your family.
If you look on the IOM Family History site there looks like there is a Will for Charles Fell 1829 Braddan (possibly Janes Father?).
best wishes
