Re: TAYLOR & GILL
In Response To: TAYLOR & GILL ()

Ann Gill appears to be the daughter of William Gill and Jane Fargher and to have had five siblings (William 1788, John 1796, Ewan 1798,
Thomas 1790 and Charles 1801).
One possibility:
The IGI has a marriage in Manchester Cathedral on October 13 1823, between Ann Gill and Charles Taylor.
The IGI also has the christening in Lezayre on June 7 1829 of William Taylor, son of Charles Taylor and Ann Killey. However that may be a transcription error as I found no marriage between a Charles Taylor and an Ann Killey.

IOM 1841 census has Ann Taylor (45) and Margaret Taylor (15) in Lezayre (HO107/1464/1).

Also in 1841 at Noradal (?) Lezayre, there is a William Taylor (10, living with Thomas (50) and Margaret (30) Gill

The IOM 1851 census HO107/2524 has at Sandy Road Lezayre:
Thomas Corlett Head Mar 27 Stone Mason (master) b England
Jane Wife 26 b England
Jane dau 3 b England
Margaret 1 b England

2 doors away is:
Thomas Gill Head Wid 61 farmer 5 acres b Lazayre
Ann Taylor sister mar 58 b Lezayre
William Taylor visitor 21 Blacksmith Appr. b Lezayre
Charles Taylor Boarder 14 b England
Samuel Taylor Boarder 10 b England
John Taylor 8 b England
Ruth Taylor 7 b England
Possibly these were Ann's children

In Sulby Lezayre there is
Hugh Gill Head Mar 52 Miller Master b Lezayre
Margaret wife 49 b Lezayre
Margaret Jane Duu Unm 17 b Lezayre
Philip 12 b Lezayre
Charles Gill Brother Unm 49 labourer b Lezayre
Margaret Tailor visitor Unm 25 b England
John Corlett servt. Unm 24 Miller journeyman b Lezayre

In 1861 at Ballocrinck Cottage Lezayre RG9/4422
Ann Taylor Head Widow 68 Housekeeper b IOM
Charles Gill brother Unm 60 Supported by friend b IOM
Margaret Taylor dau 35 Unm b IOM

After 1851, except for Margaret, I did not find Jane's (possible) children.

There is a Ruth Taylor in the birth index in Bury in the April-May June quarter of 1843 Vol 21 page 269. Possibly this is the same Ruth as the 1851 census. If so, the birth certificate will give her father's name and occupation, presumably something that involved not being at home very often.

Also the marriage in the IGI between Thomas Corlett and Jane Taylor is an LDS submission, not an extract from parish records.
It is possible that Thomas and Jane, despite both being born in England, went to Lezayre to marry, before returning to England and having their daughter Jane Corlett, but I wonder.
