Manx were apparently welcomed into Liverpool police (presumaebly with no family/religious connections they would be impartial) also many appeared to be strong tee-total methodists which appealed to recruitment committees. Jobs on the Island were not that good (holiday trade very seasonable, mining not that attractive for dangerous work) - Liverpool had been a draw for Manx since the late 18th C - easy to move to/from the Island - some of the Liverpool police were also seconded to the Manx force for the holiday season.
