Cant answer your question but thought I would just add that I also have someone in my tree, James McCormick born 1853 in Andreas as a Policeman on the birth certificate of his first child in 1884 - he had also married a Manx girl in Liverpool in 1881 so presume that was when thry moved to Liverpool.
