Re: Merchant Seamen
In Response To: Re: Merchant Seamen ()

I am probably going to muddy the waters, but as Alfred Carines are few and far between, here are three all connected to the same family.

So, here goes.

1. The IGI has John Carine marrying Ann Lowey Rushen Sept 7, 1844.
Eight christenings, showing this couple as parents, are on the IGI 1846-1863.
Alfred, (ch. April 4 1862 and who died the same year and is on Brian's site)
Margaret Susanna, ch. Nov 6 1863,
Ann Jane, ch. Jan 14 1849
John ch. Feb 3 1846
John Thomas, ch. October 17 1852.
William Henry ch. Nov 1 1857
William Henry ch. Dec 11 1859.
Martha ch. Sept 2 1855.

2. The family is on the Rushen census for years:
1851 - Surby: (John 29 Fisherman, Ann 28, John 5. Ann 2.
1861 - The Logan: (John 38 Fisherman, Ann 38, Ann 12, John 9, Marsha (sic) 6 Wm Henry 1)
1871 - Kirkil Roade?: Ann 47 mar Fisherman's wife, William 10, James 5 (possibly son of Isabella Lowey), Susannah 8.
1881 - Bradda: Ann 57 mar Fisherman's wife. Susanna 17, Alfred (G'son) 5.
In 1891 there is a 15-year-old Alfred Carine on a fishing boat at Surby

3. Finally, there is a 16 June 1876 christening on the IGI for an Alfred Griffin, son of John Griffin and Ann Jane Carin (possibly the one above). The IGI shows his death as Sept 6 of the same year and his burial is also on Brian's site.
