Dear Viv C
Just saw your memo regarding the Ratcliffe family and the link with the Cretney’s
The following Cretney family links, will I hope help you.

David Cretney ch 1st April 1753 was third son of William C b 13th April 1723 and Elinor Cubbon both of Marown.
He married Ann Cottier about 1798 and had eight children the fourth being Caesar Nov 1785 in Marown. Ann died in April 1801 and David re-married Alice Quine and had 5 more children between 1804 and 1820.
Caesar C married Margaret Clague on 29th Jan 1811 at Braddan and had three Children William b May 1811, Ann ch Oct 1813 and John ch Jul 1815.
William is not listed on the 1851 census but I have seen a record of a burial at St Georges Douglas for a William buried 13 Sept 1878 aged 67.
Ann – I have no record of her and John died age 12 days on 15th July.
The Cretney’s only have one link with the Radcliffe’s being a Margaret Cretney ch 17th Jul 1722 at Marown and she married James Radcliffe 28th May 1743 at Marown but died after a year on 31st Mar 1744.

Best wishes on your search
