All useful stuff! Thanks to both of you. It does seem a bit of a co-incidence - Thomas, Rushen, Port Erin....I don't think my grandmother had ever been to the island and her geography was useless, so Port Erin was something she had obviously heard from her mother. The death date for that Thomas also matches....Is it possible to track Thomas and Teresa? Did they marry on the island and if so when? I think they had a daughter Teresa Then a ten year gap before their son...thinking about it he doesn't fit. Florence came to her remaining family on the IOM and when her brother and "father" and first husband died, leaving her with a baby, my grandmother said she had nobody. She always maintained that her mother had "married beneath herself" when she married her father because she needed the security! Is there any way of finding someone who wasn't buried in consecrated ground? If it wasn't for the mention of Port Erin I would assume he had lived and died elsewhere.
