as Brian says 99% of certificates pre 1878 will have no additional information than that which is in the Parish Registers. Wills (again on LDS microfilm) are always worth checking, especially once you get back into 18th C - decrees of intestates are particularly rewarding as they generally name all children and if you are lucky relatives on the deceased side (though they may not however give the name of the spouse !).
