Once you’ve registered, it’s free to use the index, and you can buy credits to order certificates. One good thing about Scottish marriage certificates is that they give mother’s maiden names, so you’ll be able to discover Ida Gwendoline Jones’s mother Marion Elizabeth’s maiden name.

You'll see that some of the more recent death entries show mother's maiden name. So the Ernest Clucas who died in 1999 aged 105 was Ernest Milton Clucas b 1893, the youngest brother of Joseph Henry Clucas b 1872.
