In looking at his ancestry I have a question. How do you pin down which William Looney married Jony Quillease? Most all of John and Margery Woods children show up in the Maughold Parish Birth records, except a son named William. The only William that I see listed who seems to fit is William Lowny who was christened 28 Oct 1660 in Maughold Parish, son of Robert Lowny.

If a child is not in the Baptism Parish Register, SOME times, they are named in Wills of Parents.

How did I pin down which William Looney married Jony Quillease.......as follows...by the Parish Register and by Wills and by the power of mathematical deduction on Marriage and Baptism dates.

Phillip’s - Will - decreed his ownly soun Jon Lowny.

JOHN 1647 – 1699 Son of, Phillip Lowny.
married, Margery Woods April ye 16th 1665.

John’s Will in 1699 - names his Sons, Daniel & John & William.
Names his Grandsons, James & John Looney – sons of Wm Looney & Joney Quillease.

Maughold Parish Register Baptisms.

1695 James Lowny 21st Jan.
1698 John Lowny 19th March.
1701 Ann Lowny 25th March.
1711 Will Lowny 28th August.
Betty / Elizabeth Lowny.
Margery Lowny……....Betty and Margery named in their, Father’s Will.

The earliest Maughold Parish Birth/Christening records (1647 to 1655) do show four Looney men, Phill, Will, Tho and Robt Lowny. Phill and Robt are the only two who seem to have sons born to them.
