Hi Viv , not sure what has happened , on Manxbdm and Lawsons site for the Marriage he is just shown as John , for the births of the children he is shown as John Stanley. As I mentioned before there are 8 Caines with second name Stanley around 1872. perhaps he changed his name because of the "other" JSC born 1890 - caused confusion ??
But then there is no birth for him. Jean's find of Robert Caine and Eleanor Crebbin looks possible as their son John Thomas b 1867 , died 1870 , so they could have had a second J T , but again there is no record. Perhaps they were so distressed by the loss of their other children they renounced religion and did not Christen their son.
Civil registration did not start till 1878.
John T/S did call one of his daughter's Eleanor , but not the second one , but then he did call his first son John Kneale and a later one Robert.
