the deed of sale was NSS Oct 1778 42 - dated 2 Sep 1778;Thomas Allen(Ballavarry, Andreas) + wife Esther als Radcliffe sell for £40 to John Logan + Edward Corkill(both Maughold) those several slate houses wherein Robt Christian junr(of Baldroma) now resides situate in Church town Maughold + known as Maryes house with yard fronting door of slate house - 4d intack rent + the cowhouse + garden near same place of 4d rent - excepting one of the cowhouses sd Edward Corkill holds by lease for a school house for use of parishioners' children for term of 8 yrs; Witt Edward Allen, Wm Christian;Setting quest confirm 4d rents
The Mary in the title was a Mary callow als Christian as the house was sold prior to this by her children
