Re: Robert Amos Leece
In Response To: Re: Robert Amos Leece ()

I am SOOOO happy that I saw and read this thread....it was the last name "Leece" that caught my attention....

My Great Grandfather was Thomas Kelly, his first wife was Almeana Leece. She had four daughters with Thomas, Minnie Elizabeth(1889), Ethel (1891), CISSIE (1893) and Mabel (1896).

Almeana passed away on 1st November 1901 in Marown, leaving Thomas with the 4 girls....he remarried in 1902 to my Great Grandmother, Alice Louise Gould and left for North America.

We knew that Minnie and Ethel came to North America on 20th Dec. 1909 from Liverpool to Portland Maine on the SS Southwark....Mabel sailed on the Lusitania with Thomas, Alice and their 2 kids in 1910 to New York.....but CISSIE left with a cousin on the SS Alaunia into Boston in 1914........

We have NEVER been able to figure out WHERE they girls went in the USA as they had all put Hibbing Minnisota as their destination, but didn;t get there.......so for me to see that CISSIE went to Montcalm, Michigan is AWESOME!....My Great Grandfather Thomas DIED sometime in 1912 -1913, just before my Grandfather was born...but we don;t know where, when or how...now I have somewhere to start a new search!...so THANK YOU....perhaps some of the info on Cissie's family might be of interest as well.........

Cheers,

Jay
