Re: Kinvig
In Response To: Re: Kinvig ()

Hi, I have tried to find you on ancestry, but it will not allow me to view your tree, therefore I cannot email you. If you could reply to this message through my daughter’s email, lexihjones@hotmail.co.uk, I will be able to share the information easier.

The letter you have was from my aunty Nell (Mrs E Riozzi). The information I have been given from Kate in Sweden is something you may already have. John Clugston (J.H kinvig’s grandfather) married Ann Christian. John was the son of Archibald Clugston and Margret Kinvig married 12th April 1834.
Archibald Clugston’s father also went by the same name and married Mary Shaw who was born in Ireland. The research Kate has found led her to believe Archibald senior may have originally come from Ireland or Scotland, but she cannot be sure and I haven’t found anything to confirm this.

Archibald junior (J.H Kinvig’s great grandfather) died 3rd December 1838 in a sea disaster.

As we have found little information on Jane, I would appreciate all the information you can give in answer to my questions if possible.

Did Jane, her husband and two children stay on the island?

Do you know why she gave J.H Kinvig up for adoption and why Lucy May went to live with her grandfather and did not stay with Jane?

Take care,
Yvonne.
