found marriage in Bride, but children in Micha

The only Ann(e) Joughin in the Bride baptisms of a suitable age to be marrying in 1750 was baptised 1720/1 March 23rd, and even then she left it rather late to marry. She was the daughter of Daniel Joughin and Mary (Caistill). Hitherto I had not found a husband for this Ann, and there seems to be no other candidate than James Claige of Kirk Michael, as I read the Bride marriages register.

Do you have the dates of birth of the children, and if so, are they consistent with having a mother of that age?

If, as seems likely, this is the right Ann, she comes from the family of Joughins at Knockbane, now called Cronkbane, Bride. Her elder brother is my 5th great-grandfather Daniel Joughin, and her younger brother James Joughin, 5th great-grandfather of Jim Smith who sometimes posts on this board.

If you are of our generation, Ailsa, you are our 7th cousin.
