That find probably gives more questions than answers.
If you go to the mariners.records.nsw.gov.au
site type in the ships name , you get three options, if you take the first two , which gives you the typed list , if you click on "scan" you get the original hand written document.
The newpaper has invented "Parker" , but has lost the names Peatland and Vigors .
If James had permission from the Captain to stay , why would he change his name ?
AB I understand stands for Able-bodied Seaman , shortened to Able seaman.
While looking for "Parker , Crescent City" , I found a story in the 'South Australian Register" , Monday 9/1/1854 about the C.C. picking up passengers from a shipwreck which indicates the C.C. may have come Liverpool / New York / The Pacific. So if he was to jump ship , why not do it in N.Y. with his brothers ?
