Re: Captain Robert Clucas
In Response To: Re: Captain Robert Clucas ()

Hi Barry , I would like to point out that you have access to all that I gave you - they are free sites. I need to explain my wife was a Clucas , her paternal grandparents born on the IOM .
Appears from the LDS IGI site that Thomas Clucas married Margaret Cowley 7/9/1811 in Lezayre IOM , he was a widower and Margaret a Spinster. They seem to have the following children with Christening dates:
Catherine 28/11/1813
Female 2/7/1815 ( Not named- stillborn ?)
Robert 18/5/1817
Catherine 19/9/1819
William 15/1/1822
Robert 26/12/1824
Margaret Ann 4/5/1828
Daniel 17/10/1830
Edmund/Edward 3/12/1835
All in Andreas.
On the Brian Lawsons burial site there is listing 31/8/1816 "son of Thomas Clucas in Andreas.
On the 1841 census the family are still in Andreas ;
Thomas 70
Margaret 50
Catherine 15
James 15
Margaret 10
Daniel 8
Edward 5
The 1841 census showed"rounded" ages except for children up to the age of 15 . The census records still don't add up.
Can't explain the two Roberts and Catherines , they don't seem to die young. Your Robert would have left the IOM by then as the census was taken June 6th.
Thomas appears to be buried 17/2/1843 aged 72 in Andreas.

Cheers
David
