Re: Ann Curphey (Cannell)
In Response To: Re: Ann Curphey (Cannell) ()

Still trying to trace Ann Curphey (Cannell). I know she was buried in Michael w/family so this would be the old K. Michael churchyard. Apparently, I am told there is no MI. Could she be added to her parents and therefore not listed? I think her parents might be John Cannell and Jane Cowley who were marr. 14 Jan 1804. Does anyone have info on that marr??
Ann marr. William Curphey in 1829 in Malew. She died aged 41, bur. 19 Sep 1850, same day as birth of last & 10th child, Margaret. Wm. went on to marry Ann Corjeage in Nov. (I have info).
Some clues:
Ann's son, John Cujrphey Jr. (who marr. Mary Ann Kermode) died in 1913 aged 74. Maybe he is bur. nearby? Is there a plan on the graveyard? Even grave numbers??
Walter James Cannell (b. 1831, 25 in 1856 & banker in Peel) supposedly was related. He marr. a Gelling and was a banker, liv. at Cumberland Sq. Port St. Mary in one of the census. His parents were Hugh Cannell & Mary Corrin?
Did Ann have a bro. John who listed some of Ann's children in his will in 1877 (aged 71)farmer, Michael. Is there an MI for him or is he also w/parents?
Don't know when John Cannell Jr. and Jane Cowley were born but if they were marr. in 1804 that would make approx. 1979 birth for John and 1983 for Jane. I know they were around when Ann and Wm. Curphey marr, in 1829 - she was under age, but they did not sign. Can't find them on any census. Both of them would have died between 1810 and 1850 I think.
Another clue might be a relative who was very musical and called the Manx Nightingale. I know Jean Curphey was called that later on - 1900 - she is a relative too.
Also was there a Tom who was a musician??
Throwing out clues; maybe someone has an insight??!!
Any help in search for Ann Cannell's parents greatly appreciated. U
